NMSU Ch E Students complete safety certification

Nine NMSU Ch E students completed the Certificate of Safety Achievement awarded by The Safety and Chemical Engineering Education (SAChE) program. SACHE is "a cooperative effort between the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) and engineering schools to provide teaching materials and programs that bring elements of process safety into the education of undergraduate and graduate students studying chemical and biochemical products and processes." These materials are of commercial quality, and may be suitable for training purposes in an actual industrial setting. The guiding committee is composed of representatives from academe, industry, and AIChE staff. With the combined expertise of industrial representatives, consultants, and university faculty, "SAChE develops, reviews, and distributes teaching materials with the ultimate aim of safer operations."

Congratulations to the students named below who completed the four modules entiled: (1) Safety in the Process Industries; (2) Risk Assessment; (3) Runaway Reactions; and (4) Reactive Hazards: Dangers of Uncontrolled Chemical Reactions:
