E-Council Student Organization
College of Engineering
New Mexico State University

The Engineers Council (E-Council) serves as the overarching entity for the various student organizations in the College of Engineering at New Mexico State University (NMSU). The mission of the Council is to promote the productivity and involvement of fellow engineering students and future engineers at NMSU and the southern New Mexico region.

Throughout the academic year, E-Council raises funds to support engineering student activities, as well as provide travel assistance for engineering students to attend competitions/contests, seminars, and conventions. One of E-Council’s main projects is the coordination and implementation of Engineering Week. E-Council has adopted the mission of expanding community and K-12 student awareness of careers in engineering by sponsoring Engineering Week; a week of activities that involve a variety of engineering and non-engineering related events. Engineering Week at NMSU is held in February of each year with the date coinciding with the National Engineering Week established by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). Activities have included week-long campus competitions culminating in an annual cookout, hosting of a cookout for high school seniors in conjunction with Spring Visitors Day at NMSU, and visits to middle and elementary schools to encourage younger students to consider careers in engineering. .
